Pre-Annoucement: Acumen Submissions Reopening in November 2026

We plan to reopen submissions to Acumen in November 2026, following the disruption and delays earlier this year. We are continuing to work through submissions already received and thank everyone for their patience.

Acumen 117, planned for February or March 2027, will include a section entitled ‘Encounters with David Perman’, celebrating the life and work of our late Interviews Editor, poet, writer and publisher.

We particularly welcome new poems or short prose responding to David, his poetry or wider literary contributions. These might draw on personal encounters, themes in his work, responses to his poems or interviews, or his encouragement of other writers. Short personal recollections may also be considered for Readers’ Responses.

To be considered for ‘Encounters with David Perman’ in Issue 117, submissions must be received by 5 December 2026. Please clearly mark your work ‘Encounters with David Perman’ – in the email subject line, covering letter for postal submissions, or at the beginning of the document if submitting through Google Forms.

General poetry and prose submissions will also be welcome when the submission window reopens, and may be considered for Issue 117 or subsequent issues. Space is limited, and publication cannot be guaranteed.

Please wait for the reopening announcement before sending work. Full submission guidelines will be available on our website.
